Newport

The client of this project was no stranger. The customers were so pleased with the renovations of their home and pool house that they also appointed us to take care of the renovation of their seaside residence in Newport. They entrusted us with the complete renovation and furnishing of the apartment. The biggest challenge of this project was to turn a small kitchen and a dining room into one large open living space, separated by a load-bearing wall. Local engineers already informed the client that it was not possible to remove the load-bearing wall and create one large space. Thanks to our years of experience and training in construction, we dared to take on this project.

During one of our first conversations, we convinced the customer that it was indeed doable to create one large space. Moreover, this space contains a second ‘challenge’. There was only one toilet on the ground floor, which opened onto the kitchen. We moved the toilet to the wardrobe in the entrance hall. The renovation of this project reached a record pace of three months without sacrificing quality and accuracy. The project was well prepared and with the help of our contractors we were able to realize a great project.

The ground floor apartment enjoys a beautiful view of the Vaargeul. For the choice of finishes, we were inspired by the charms of coastal life. The interior would reflect the serene appearance of the coast. Soft pastel colors and rough sand textures were chosen. For example, terrazzo floor tiles that are a mixture of light sand colors were laid over the entire apartment. We chose natural oak and concrete tablets for the custom work.

The layout was the biggest challenge. In addition to creating one beautiful living space with kitchen, there was also the request to provide an extra bedroom. The puzzle pieces fit together perfectly after the kitchen was moved to a new and more favorable location. The new layout also has plenty of storage space. The custom furniture was designed according to the specific needs of the customer. The custom pieces extend to the kitchen, toilets and bedrooms and we have saved space by installing sliding doors. Both the fixed and loose furniture enjoy the same soothing color palette and finish in light natural oak.
